About this game

Wordle is a free, browser-based take on the daily word-guessing game that took the internet by storm in 2021. You have six attempts to guess a five-letter target word. After each guess, letters light up green (correct letter, correct position), yellow (correct letter, wrong position), or gray (not in the word). Words come from a curated answer list; guesses must be valid English. There is no signup, no real-money wagering, and no time limit per round.

How to play

1. Type a 5-letter word and press Enter to submit.
2. Letters in green are in the word AND in the right position.
3. Letters in yellow are in the word but in the wrong position.
4. Letters in gray are not in the word at all.
5. You have 6 attempts to guess the answer; if you fail, the answer is revealed.

Tips and strategy

• Open with a word that uses 5 unique high-frequency letters (CRANE, SLATE, ADIEU).
• Use the second guess to test 5 different letters from the first.
• Track yellow letters carefully; their position is a strong constraint by guess 3.
• Don't waste guesses on words containing letters you've ruled out.
