Basketball Keno

40-ball Keno on a half-court grid. Three-point shots and paint plays earn zone multipliers.

About this game

Basketball Keno is a numbers-draw lottery-style game. Pick between 1 and 10 spots from a 1-80 grid, then watch as 20 numbers are drawn at random. The more of your spots that hit, the larger your payout per the variant's paytable. Different keno variants pay differently — this variant has its own structure that rewards either high-spot hits, bonus draws, or pattern matching. Numbers are drawn with a seeded RNG per game; a draw record is kept so any round is fully auditable.

How to play

  1. Click cells in the 1-80 grid to pick your spots (typically 1-10).
  2. Set a bet amount and click DRAW.
  3. 20 numbers are drawn one at a time. Hits flash on the grid.
  4. Your payout is determined by hits-vs-spots-picked per the variant's paytable.
  5. Use Quick Pick to randomize your spots, or Repeat to play the same set of spots again.

Tips and strategy

  • More spots picked means rarer max-hit payouts but higher jackpot ceilings.
  • Keno's house edge is high (25%+) — set a session limit and play for the entertainment, not the math.
  • Play multi-card or way-keno modes to spread risk across multiple draws per round.
  • Quick Pick is statistically the same as picking your favorite numbers — there is no winning pattern.

History and context

Keno descends from the Chinese game baige piao (white pigeon ticket), played as early as the Han dynasty. Chinese laborers brought the game to America during the 19th-century railroad boom, where it became a saloon favorite. Modern computerized keno launched in 1980s Las Vegas casinos and is now one of the most-played casino games globally.
