About this game

Deuces Wild is a free-play five-card draw poker game against the paytable. Unlike table poker you don't play against opponents — you're playing against a posted payout schedule, and your job is to make the best possible five-card hand from a 52-card draw. The variant changes the wild-card rules, the paytable structure, and the optimal strategy: Deuces Wild has its own paytable that rewards specific hand patterns more aggressively. Cards are dealt from a freshly shuffled deck per round; the RNG seed is verifiable.

How to play

1. Place a bet (1-5 coins per round). Max-coin play unlocks the highest royal-flush bonus.
2. Click DEAL. Five cards are dealt face up.
3. Click each card you want to keep — those are HELD.
4. Click DRAW. The remaining cards are replaced from the same deck.
5. Your final hand is matched against the paytable; matching hands pay automatically.

Tips and strategy

• Always play max coins on royal-flush-bearing variants — the bonus payout dwarfs the linear scaling on other hands.
• Hold any pair of jacks-or-better; chase the four-of-a-kind.
• A four-card flush draw is better than holding a low pair.
• Never break up a made hand to chase a lower-probability bigger one (e.g., breaking a flush for a royal draw).

History and context

Video poker emerged in the late 1970s with the Si-Fortune machine, then exploded in the 1980s when IGT shipped the first practical Jacks or Better cabinets. By the 1990s every casino had video poker banks, and computer-perfect play (combined with comp programs) briefly made certain machines positive-expectation.
