About this game

Crazy Eights is a free browser card game. The deck is standard 52, dealt from a verifiable shuffle each round; multiplayer variants are simulated against AI opponents that follow published strategy rules. Each card game in the lobby has its own how-to-play overlay covering card values, legal moves, and scoring. There is no real-money wagering and no signup; you can play through a full session and the deck resets cleanly when you start a new game.

How to play

  1. Read the in-game How to Play overlay for the specific card game's rules.
  2. Cards are dealt face-up or face-down depending on the game's setup phase.
  3. Mouse / tap is the primary input; some games use right-click or long-press for special actions.
  4. AI opponents play to a published strategy table — beating them requires either correct play or favorable shuffles.

Tips and strategy

  • Most card games reward early-round positioning over late-round gambits.
  • Track the cards already played; some games (Concentration, Crazy Eights) reward perfect memory.
  • Solitaire variants are about ordering of moves more than risk-taking — undo liberally.

History and context

Playing cards reached Europe from the Mamluk Empire in the 14th century. The 52-card four-suit deck was standardized in France by the 1480s. Solitaire dates to the 18th century; bridge to the 19th; modern card-game variants (Crazy Eights, Connect Four, Go Fish) span the 20th century. Card games remain one of the most universally-played game families in the world.
