Classic Blackjack

Six-deck blackjack with hit, stand, double, and single split support.

About this game

Classic Blackjack at Ice Cheetah is a free-to-play rendition of the most popular casino card game in the world. The objective is simple: build a hand that beats the dealer's without going over 21. We use standard Las Vegas Strip rules: dealer stands on soft 17, blackjack pays 3:2, doubling is allowed on any first two cards, and a single split is allowed per round. The shoe is six decks, shuffled with a cryptographically strong seed at the start of every game. Every hand is fully play-money — you start each session with a fresh balance of virtual Dollars, there is no real-money wagering, and no account signup is required. The dealer is a deterministic JavaScript engine, so every outcome is verifiable from the public game manifest.

How to play

  1. Place a bet by clicking the chip icons or using the bet input.
  2. Click DEAL. The dealer gives you two face-up cards and themselves one face-up + one face-down.
  3. If your two cards total 21 (Ace + 10/face), it's a natural blackjack — 3:2 payout if the dealer doesn't also have one.
  4. Otherwise, choose HIT (take another card), STAND (keep your total), DOUBLE (double the bet for exactly one more card), or SPLIT (only on a matching pair).
  5. After your action, the dealer reveals the down card and draws until 17 or higher.
  6. Compare totals: closer to 21 without busting wins. Ties (push) return your bet.

Tips and strategy

  • Always hit on totals of 8 or less; the dealer almost certainly has you beat.
  • Stand on hard 17 or higher — any extra card will bust you most of the time.
  • Double on 11 against any dealer card except an Ace; the math always favors you.
  • Splitting Aces and 8s is almost always correct, regardless of dealer up-card.
  • Never take insurance — the house edge on insurance is far worse than the base game's.

History and context

Blackjack evolved from the French game Vingt-et-Un in the 18th century and arrived in the United States in the early 1800s. The "blackjack" name comes from a 3:2 bonus that early American casinos offered for any 21-point hand containing the Jack of Spades or Jack of Clubs (a "black jack"). Modern rules date to the 1950s, when basic strategy was first published — proving that blackjack, played correctly, has the lowest house edge of any classic casino game.
